Gifu Castle Night Viewing

Gifu Castle

For a limited time each year, Gifu Castle is open beyond regular operating hours to allow people to enjoy the night view from the top of Mt. Kinka. We went, with Bonnie and Sam, to see what Gifu city would look like all lit up. While it was not nearly as spectacular as seeing Chicago from the top of the Hancock building, it was a nice sight to see.

Danielle on the Ropeway

This is a picture of me riding the ropeway. Mt. Kinka has hiking trails that will take you to the top, but the day was humid and hot, and we decided to take the easy ride up the ropeway. I was happy with this choice until I looked down and FREAKED out. I hated the ropeway and will definitely consider hiking next time.

Sunset From Castle

This is our view of the sunset from the top of the castle. It was quite a hazy day, and the sunset was less spectacular than we had hoped, but it was nice nonetheless.

Aaron and Danielle in the Wind

The top of the castle was really windy. It was so nice to feel the breeze and watch the birds just float through the sky. Aaron and I kept talking with one another about how fun it must be to be a bird at that moment, flying for them was effortless. The wind did all the work.

City Lights

Once the sun went all the way down, the view was pretty awesome. It was fun to look at our city, twinkling in the dark. A nice way to end the day.
