Spring Has Sprung
Yep. I am calling it. The first, official, day of spring isn’t until a week from tomorrow, but I am declaring it spring right now. The sun is shining, the breeze is warm, my house isn’t icy (I slept with a t-shirt on last night, and no heated carpet), the days are getting longer (tomorrow will have 2 minutes and 15 seconds more daylight), and I am sitting at work without my blanket on my lap. Life is good.
Outside the trees are budding and starting to bloom.
It will still be a few weeks before the long awaited sakura (cherry blossoms). So, for now, we must settle for the plum blossoms that are everywhere in this city. They are little reminders of what we will be graced with shortly.
The whole place just smells fantastic. It smells like spring.
The world is filled with potential and promise. Everything seems like it is ready for a fresh start. Myself included . . .
In just a few weeks all that potential will unfold into blossoms and leaves and color. The world will be filled with life and green until next winter, when it will all go away to hide for a few months. The winter makes us appreciate the way the world comes to life, the way that I am appreciating it now.
Thanks for coming Spring. It is good to have you here!
How lovely! I can almost smell the blossoms. Will your Mom and Mike miss this glorious blooming period? I hope not –
Sunday, I happened to look at a new world map we have posted on one of our walls during missions month. For a moment, I could not find Japan. When I finally found it, I was amazed how small it is, especially since it is near China, which I did not remember was so enormous! I am sure I new the sizes many years ago, but had forgotten. While looking Japan over, I even came across Gifu City – so I blew a kiss to you!
