Traditional Clothes

As Danielle noted, we spent the three day weekend galavanting around. It was great fun and I have to agree that the Yukata were the highlight. Both of us had been looking forward to trying one on, and virtually every last jet but us, it seemed had their picture of them hanging out in a yukata.

However, we did that and much more. In fact, the yukata were not even our first bit of dress up that day. We also got a bit of a tour of the Gifu history museum. Where they have traditional clothing that you can try on.

Kimono and Warrior Dress-up

Danielle, and I were both much more pleased with the Yukata than these garments, these were if possible even more complicated and multilayered. It was kind of heavy and a bit uncomfortable when we were done. But, a great deal of fun and the japanese volunteers all got a hoot out of posing danielle and me.

The only bummer of all this is that everyone, and I mean everyone volunteers and foreigners alike, on this trip wanted to try on the traditional clothing. It took so long that we didn’t get much of a tour. It stinks because I have no idea how many other chances we will get to go through the museum with people who can translate the important bits.

So I ended up spending the rest of the time chatting with people. I met a guy you plays go, and is willing to teach me a thing or two. I also had some fun with some traditional diablo’s, which are called something else in japan but i forget what.
