Japanese Dishwashers

This weekend Aaron and I spent some time exploring some neighborhood shops. Our first stop was to the Book-off, Hobby-off, and Hard-off (yep, hard-off makes me laugh like a teenager). The -off stores are essentially resale shops where you can take your unused items and sell them back. It was a great place to wander and explore and find cheap solutions for things we want and need in our home. The Book-off, obviously, sells used books. The Hobby-off sells figurines and trading cards. And, the hard-off sells hardware namely audio visual equipment, computers and instruments.

After our stop at the -off stores we went to Apita. Apita is a large department store near Aaron’s work. We had a few small things we were looking to buy, but more or less we were just looking around. One of my favorite discoveries were the Japanese dishwashers.

These are countertop contraptions that are designed to hook up to your sink. They cost anywhere from 6,000 yen to 10,000 yen ($60-$100). And, I must say, that I was tempted. Aaron pointed out the flaw in this purchase, it would take up our entire kitchen counterspace. I looked at him and reminded him that currently, that entire counterspace is taken up by DIRTY dishes!

Don’t let Aaron get you down. You NEED to buy that dishwasher. And for that price you just can’t go wrong, it would be a bargain at twice the price.

Aaron is not his father’s son. Eric insisted that the first purchase we make after being married is a dishwasher. We bought a used one for $60 (same price!). We have always had one. It keeps the dirty dishes off the counter!

Wait. A counter full of dishes. Hmmmmmm I remember someone saying “Spic and Span” Are you still making your bed?
